Onsolis® is a medicine for sudden flares of intense pain, called breakthrough pain, in adults with cancer (age 18 or older) who already take an around-the-clock opioid medicine for constant cancer pain. Onsolis is made with fentanyl (pronounced "FEN-tuh-nil"). Fentanyl is a medication that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help relieve pain.

Onsolis has a delivery system that's different from other medicines. It's a film that dissolves when you place it on the inside of your cheek.
